I subscribed to MobileMe just after I got my iPhone 3G.  Before that I&#039;d been considering running an Exchange server for all the push functionality.  In the end I just didn&#039;t have time to set it all up so went for the simple option.

Even now though I still use my Gmail account.

The problem is that I don&#039;t have any confidence in Apple&#039;s infrastructure, so consequently don&#039;t feel safe using iDisk without first sending a copy of the files to my Gmail account. Thereby defeating the point of it in the first place!

I converted to Apple about two years ago after having got fed up of the difficulty in getting Windows to do things without fuss and as you say their stuff usually Just Works.

With this though they&#039;ve dropped the ball.

I&#039;m lucky in that I&#039;ve not published used my MobileMe email address so don&#039;t have anything to lose if I don&#039;t renew.  Which is looking likely...</description>
